Features JACK Intelligent Agents - Components for Intelligent Agents in Java

چکیده
Agent-based computing is rapidly maturing from a relatively obscure existence in research labs towards an accepted and valued technology in industry. A sure sign of this transformation is the emergence of commercial tools for the development of agentbased software. In this issue we feature two articles that describe such tools. Although they both have a strong relationship to the Java programming language, they have adopted very different approaches.

Using Java for Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Systems
Intelligent Agents are being used to model simple rational behaviours in a wide range of distributed applications. In particular, agents based on the Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) architecture have been used successfully in situations where some modelling of human reasoning and team cooperation has been needed, such as simulation of tactical decision making in air operations and command and con...
متن کاملA Java Agent Environment for Simulation and Modelling
The Air Operations Division of DSTO conducts operational analysis studies to help the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to select the most cost effective air platforms and related systems for Australian requirements and to optimise the use of equipment in service. Computer simulation studies are central to this activity. Intelligent software agents are used to represent human decision making withi...
متن کاملA Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents
Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....
متن کاملHierarchical Functional Concepts for Knowledge Transfer among Reinforcement Learning Agents
This article introduces the notions of functional space and concept as a way of knowledge representation and abstraction for Reinforcement Learning agents. These definitions are used as a tool of knowledge transfer among agents. The agents are assumed to be heterogeneous; they have different state spaces but share a same dynamic, reward and action space. In other words, the agents are assumed t...
